ABOUT MELISSA COCHRANE
Helping You to Embody Your Potential
I’m Melissa Cochrane, a counsellor, psychotherapist, and professional coach. If you are seeking assistance to live your life to the fullest, I provide wellness-oriented coaching that takes into account the importance of living a wellness lifestyle. I specialise in running group workshops aimed at enhancing your life. You will learn how the practice of mindfulness can positively impact and even reverse the ravages that daily stressors may have made on your body and mind over the years.
Once you identify your personal, professional, wellness, and/or health-related goals, together we will find creative solutions to resolve any challenges that may have prevented you in the past from getting to where you want to be. I would then be honoured to assist you in making positive changes that ensure that you live a less hectic and more authentic lifestyle that is aligned with your personal and professional values.
I use an integrative approach that includes the principles of mindfulness, neuroscience, untherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and positive psychology. I will help you to find and use your unique strengths and resolve what may be blocking you so that you can step fully into living your life with health, calm, and vitality.
I am inspired by: Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD and his incredible work in the areas of attachment, neurobiology, and trauma; Dan Siegel, MD, a gifted teacher and therapist whose research has introduced us to interpersonal neurobiology and who is a founding director of The Mindful Awareness Research Center; Dr Rangan Chatterjee's Progressive Medicine approach to health; and Jon Kabat Zinn, PhD, the founder of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic. I have recently interned under Dr. Sunny Massad, author of UnTherapy: A Positive Psychology for Enlightened Living, which I consider to be a profoundly effective method in which to shift patterns of thinking and behaviour. I have trained with Dr. Ellyn Bader whose compassionate and skilled approach to working with couples in the Developmental Model for Couples Counselling is inspirational. I have also enjoyed recent professional development with the Food and Mood Centre at Deakin University, as well as completing a Neuroscience Certificate Course for Clinical Practice.
