ABOUT MELISSA COCHRANE
Helping You to Embody Your Potential
I’m Melissa Cochrane, Counsellor, Psychotherapist, and Professional Coach. I currently provide wellness-oriented coaching for individuals who want to live their lives to the fullest. I am passionate about the importance of living a wellness lifestyle and teach each of my clients how the practice of mindfulness can positively impact, and even reverse the ravages that chronic stress can make on the body and the mind.
Unlike traditional therapists who focus on the problems and difficulties of the past, our work together will focus, instead, on how, exactly, to get you from where you are now to where you want to be. Having been a counsellor and psychotherapist for more than 15 years, my work has created a solid foundation from which to work with people to continue their development. I can help you to focus on what you want out of life and then help you to make changes that enable you attain it.
Wellness coaching is efficient and effective. It provides an opportunity to take the time and attention to focus on one's inner world by identifying personal and professional goals and then finding creative solutions to resolve those challenges that have been haunting you for so long. If you are seeking someone to mentor you beyond your present limitations, I would be honored to assist you in making positive changes that will ensure that you live a less hectic and more authentic lifestyle.
I use an integrative approach that includes the principles of Mindfulness, Neuroscience, UnTherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, and Positive Psychology. I help my clients to find and use their unique strengths and resolve their most crippling fears so that they can step fully into their best self.
I am inspired by: Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD and his incredible work in the areas of attachment, neurobiology, and trauma; Dan Siegel, MD, a gifted teacher and therapist whose research has introduced us to interpersonal neurobiology and who is a founding director of The Mindful Awareness Research Center; Dr Rangan Chatterjee's Progressive Medicine approach to health; and Jon Kabat Zinn, PhD, the founder of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic. I have recently interned under Dr. Sunny Massad, author of UnTherapy: A Positive Psychology for Enlightened Living, which I consider to be a profoundly effective method in which to shift patterns of thinking and behaviour. I have also trained with Dr. Ellyn Bader whose compassionate and skilled approach to working with couples in the Developmental Model for Couples Counselling is inspirational.
